The Cirque of the Towers - a workshop via horseback
Speaker: Tom Loucks has been an avid amateur photographer since the 1960s. Growing up in New England, he developed an early passion for rural landscape photography, and simultaneously his love of hiking and the mountains took his pastime into a love for alpine landscapes.
Vermont Life magazine published some of his early submissions in the 1970s, including one cover photo. Later Tom got into wildlife photography and garnered first place in National Audubon’s 2004 Nature’s Odyssey contest. Tom has two photographs of “Alumni Adventurers” on permanent display at Dartmouth College, and previously has had several articles, images, and three cover stories published in the Sierra Club’s Focal Points magazine. He has been a member of the Club since 2014.
Program: Tom will describe the alpine workshop he took to an area within Wyoming’s Wind River Range and via horseback in 2023. Since the entire workshop would happen miles from civilization and without electricity, some of the talk will focus on preparation and gear plus access and egress via horseback.
